The scent hits my nose as I walk through the door. Stems in a glass pitcher reaching for sunlight. Excited, we admire the bloom, pick out the perfect space. On our bookshelf, windowsill, atop the dresser. A bundle of color in our four white walls. A few days pass and they begin to fade, petals fall to the floor. Momentary beauty, gone so fast.
